I agree Joe. That is the part I am not buying either. If we are getting a lot of clouds and rain then temps would tend to be closer to, if not below avg this time of year anyway lolwinterstormjoe wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 3:17 pmLes, for some reason I don't buy it either (the precip. part) as we seem to have established these very wet periods when we warm up and then the cold fronts seem to stall or move through slowly.tron777 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 2:40 pmNope. Re: April Weather Discussion
28 IMBY this morning, CVG checking in with 31. Can't rule out a slight chance for a rain shower today but the better chances should come after dark. Rain showers continue thru Thurs night. Still going with 1/4 to 1/2" for totals. A cool Friday and weekend but improving with time. Early next week is good before more rain comes in by Mon evening, then again towards the end of next week.

For this coming Thurs, we are under a marginal risk from the SPC from about the Tri-state on south.

Re: April Weather Discussion
12Z NAM gives us 0.25" of rain with our next system. 99% of it falls after midnight tonight. 12Z GFS is fairly similar. Hoping this to be the case so I can try and mow after work today. Dews are still low so anything during the day today should be light IMO.

Light to mod rain is moving thru the area now. A few hundredths of an inch are possible. Temps will drop into the 40s.

Re: April Weather Discussion
Picked up 0.03" and even without that, it is still way to wet to mow. I'd be leaving muddy ruts in the lawn.
Maybe Sunday afternoon???

No doubt, with the cold past few days no drying out here, ground still saturated

Re: April Weather Discussion
An additional 0.16" fell overnight at CVG for a total of 0.21" for yesterday. We may briefly spike into the 60s today thanks to the warm front, but it won't last long. We'll have to wait and see if any CAPE can build for that marginal risk that's out for later this afternoon and evening. Otherwise, we are good to go after that until Mon late in the day next week. The weekend is still nice with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s and 60s.

Re: April Weather Discussion
Thru the 1st 9 days of April, CVG has picked up 5.01" of rain which is 3.76" above normal. If we can keep this up, a Top Ten wettest April should be in the bag. 6.66" from 2014 is at #10. The wettest April ever? Going to be a tough record to break. 13.52" fell back in 2011.

Re: April Weather Discussion
I think we may escape this afternoon and evening (most of us minus the far South) without seeing any rain at all. That would be nice to have a dry period until late Monday next week for those needing to mow for the first time like me.
It's nice out for now that is for sure. With tomorrow being mostly cloudy and in the 40s / low 50s, that won't help out the drying efforts much.
