I am "cautiously" optimistic about the next few years as they did get quite the haul in trades and their farm system is stacked again. Now of course these players are good on paper and good in the minors, and time will tell how well they produce in the majors (if they even make it). Problem with MLB is there really needs to be a salary cap like in the NFL. Otherwise you got the Reds who build talent from within (some really really good), then in 3-4 years it's time for free agency and booku bucks - which the Reds don't have. In come the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, etc with their wallets and unlimited spending power to steal the Reds thunder. Rinse and repeat. Rebuild #500 and so on. It stings now, but they seem to be doing it right now in a full-blown rebuild. Not like previous ones where they hold onto a couple good high priced veterans and trade the rest. Trade all the good you can get now, stock up on minor leagues, get the budget down (I think there are ZERO guaranteed contracts on the books for 2024). At that point you have the money and possible trade chips to field a decent team.

The biggest problem is really no decent pitcher will come here and pitch in the small ball park. Yes you can get a number 3 or 4 in the last few years of their baseball life but no way to compete with the Dodgers,Mets etc as they have tons of money to spend.

The guys got killed 7-2! :x Its ridiculous as nearly matching numbers with the Redlegs and Cubbies!

I'm disappointed that starter Graham Ashcraft didn't have a much better outing on the mound as he's been one of the best in the rotation.

Justin Dunn squares up vs Keegan Thompson in the rubber match at 1:40 Sun.

Like Les, I'll be glad, too, when this crap of a season is OVER.

Redlegs are such an embarrassment esp when they come up short of which should be easy wins against an opponent who has nearly matched stat numbers. They got edged 5-4 by the Bucs as reliever Joel Kuhnel blew Cincy's lead of 4-3 going into the 9th inning.

Justin Dunn takes on Tyler Beede at 7:05 Sat.
