Re: Monday April 8th Solar Eclipse
Here soon, once models get in that 7-10 day range, we can start tracking cloud cover and / or precip chances for the big day. We really only care about the afternoon period to be honest. I'm going to play the negative Nellie for now as the latest trends on the GFS keeps the progressive pattern with...

Re: Tuesday Night Severe Weather Event 2/27-2/28
I always worry about the power outages, especially when it turns colder like tomorrow. Although we're not expected anything frigid, it still will be cold with some wind chills. Sounds like we'll have to monitor the conditions overnight for some severe weather which can interrupt our sleep patterns, ...

Re: Monday April 8th Solar Eclipse
Returning from Michigan yesterday, saw a semi-trailer parked in a big open field up by Lima or Findley. Painted on the side of the trailer was an advertisement that read "parking spaces available for the eclipse on April 8" with a phone number. Entrepreneurship at it's finest! I took the ...

18Z NAM gives us 0.51" of QPF - WOW! Ok, I'll be getting off work at 4:45 and then picking up a 6 pack of something good to drink and sit back and watch a couple good movies with the snow falling in the background and seeing the radar at times! Oh, and ordering a pizza! :) This may very well b...

Re: We Haven't Had Enough...Let's Get Screwed Again! Feb 16-17, 2024
Ok, is there that possibility that this could be upgraded to a WSW with some places getting 4+? I kind of doubt it since those kind of amounts should be isolated. But if the heavier banding turns out to be more widespread, then I suppose there is always a chance, but I wouldn't bet on it. On the ot...

Re: We Haven't Had Enough...Let's Get Screwed Again! Feb 16-17, 2024
I have no clue on the accuracy of the hi Res FV3 as it's an experimental model, but the 12Z run has jumped well north to match the RGEM. A nice 2-4" thumping is being shown for the Tristate area. Ok Les, let's just leave it at that with the hi Res FV3, CMC and the RGEM. We should just not look...

Seen a couple GFS runs now where it could get really interesting around the 18th with an Arctic surge and the STJ bringing up a storm from the western GOM?

Re: February 2024 Weather Discussion
It's still going to be 99.69% total in Cincinnati. The best one we've seen here in quite some time... True, and it doesn't sound like much of a difference, but there really is! Nothing like being in 100% totality from what I have heard. I saw the last one from the TN welcome center on I-65 which wa...

Re: February 2024 Weather Discussion
This is early, but I have to laugh- even the eclipse just barely goes to our north. This looks like most of the snow maps we've seen. ;) Screenshot 2024-02-01 094224.png It's still going to be 99.69% total in Cincinnati. The best one we've seen here in quite some time... Re: February 2024 Weather Discussion
CPC update on MJO pretty much saying the same thing talked about here for a while IMG_1338.jpeg Yeah that’s one of the big reasons I’m skeptical of any big time, sustained cold the second half of Feb. Climo also fights against it. I do think the second half of the month will be cooler than the firs...

Re: January 2024 Weather Discussion
The GFS is certainly the most bullish on rain to snow this weekend. Not saying it's right because the other models haven't jumped on board. The atmosphere is teetering between plain ole rain and a couple inches of wet snow. Tim touched on this threat. It may not materialize, but the atmosphere is o...
