RadarScope has been updated to version 4.2 bringing widgets to iOS & Android. The widget is nice for a quick reference radar just to see what's going on.

They also added a couple extra color palettes for reflectivity, and custom user-defined tables for all products (although the caveat for the custom tables is you have to subscribe to Tier Two which is outside my current pay grade :P )

I have Tier 2. It’s better for me, since it costs less than another data service and I asked them to add in MDs, which they did. The heads up on incoming storms is appreciated.

They are talking about adding in a mid tier. They are also adding in street level mapping with Tier 2 as well.

Any recommendations for radar with updates more frequently than 10 minute increments?

It depends on which VCP (Volume Coverage pattern) the radar site is using. In stormy and rainy weather, the updates should happen every 4-5 minutes while tranquil weather patterns will use clear air mode which an sometimes take up to 10 minutes per complete scan. Terminal Doppler radars (i.e. TDAY, TCVG) update much more frequently (sometimes every minute), however they only scan a fraction of the area that the larger dopplers (KILN) do.

Radarscope is the best as as been mentioned but there is also an app called MyRadar which is good as well.

New smartphone, looking for a radar app. Thoughts? Son is looking, maybe RadarOmega or Radarscope?

RadarOmega is the best bang for the buck IMO. Radar, Satellite, Model data all in one.
