Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
All we need is 9-12” of widespread OV rains to end the drought in 2 months Keep in mind this doesn’t consider rain rates . The ground will need considerable moistening up to except rain at full potential, majority of a heavy rain would runoff. So needed rains would be higher . Good luck getting rain...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
More than half of Ohio’s 88 counties now have a disaster designation John Patterson, State Executive Director of the USDA’s Ohio Farm Service Agency. Drought conditions started in Ohio back in mid-June and have intensified all summer and are expected to only get worse in the near future. As a result...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
Some of the modeled qpf for next week is hopefull. But we’ve seen how bad they ve been with amounts of late in all the drought areas. Even at short range , let alone the 4-5 days to go before the better chances arrive. Hopeful is the best I can do atm.

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
Expansion continues. Look at Ohio’s percentages of drought severity. IMG_2267.jpegIMG_2266.jpeg Starting to see tumble weeds developing, the OV is not meant for having this desert type of climate! the next several days looks to really amplify this. Hopefully, we'll see SOME rain early next week! Th...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
We also have to figure, for the early week rains , that amounts will be over done by models into our region due to the moisture traveling over another very dry part of the country before it reaches us and our dry grounds

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
The biggest challenge that I see right now is the potential hurricane in the Gulf and what impact will it have on the pattern? I have come out and said a swing and miss to the east at this time, but that can change of course since the system has not developed yet. That too, but I’m looking more at ...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
It’s been an easy way to go as far as forecasting goes for temps and precipitation for several weeks with the way the 500mb pattern setup. Starting next week it starts to be a little more unpredictable. Is the GFS losing the influence of the Great Lakes high pressure on the OV to soon for early next...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
30 plus days and counting, QPF totals: Columbus- .16”, Dayton- .02” , CVG - .35” That stat is simply incredible! I think the last time I mowed was the last week of August. There's nothing to mow now. Leaves are dropping so once they get thick enough it'll be leaf grinding season. I'd say most peopl...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
A slim chance mind you, but the 6Z GFS has an interesting solution for next week. A front moves in Wed afternoon and evening and stalls over us thanks to a hurricane moving northward in the Gulf. It is going to be all about timing and we just won't have much of an idea about the interaction between...

Re: September 2024 Weather Discussion
So much for tropical influence for today’s weather. Relative humidity sits at 27% . Models do not handle the expansive drought’s influence on air mass, much like a snow cover in winter causes them problems with temperatures
